El Tiempo Cantina 1308 Annex Unleashes the Frozen Margaritas

The popular Tex-Mex chain just doubled its Montrose taco game.

The Laurenzo family's Tex-Mex juggernaut El Tiempo Cantina has sprouted off its seventh outpost. Above, take a look around El Tiempo Cantina 1308 Annex, which also happens to be the second El Tiempo Cantina in Montrose. (There's another one about a mile away at 1308 Montrose Boulevard).

The new two-story outpost opened yesterday at 322 Westheimer Road, and it's significantly larger than its nearby sibling: with 85 more seats, a sizeable parking lot, a bar on both levels, two upstairs open-air patios (with one on the way downstairs) and plasma televisions throughout. Of course, fans should know the kitchen is pounding out the same menu of big-as-your-face tacos, saucy enchiladas, and the bar is doing its part with buckets of frozen margaritas.

Inside, lots of rich colors and dark woods warm up the expansive space. Design highlights include a cow outside with spots shaped like the world’s continents, a very cool spiral staircase and photos of the Laurenzo's beloved Guanajuato, Mexico on the walls.

For El Tiempo Cantina 1308 Annex hours of operation, take a look at the website. The two Montrose El Tiempos should coexist for a while. It sounds like the Laurenzo's will reassess in January of 2016 .
